Credit Transfer Policy

Purpose

This policy aims to establish principles and procedures that will be followed to transfer academic credits to Roosevelt International University of Baptist. The University acknowledges that students might have done course work in different institutions that are recognized and they are looking to assess that learning justly and equally.

* 1996 EST * 25 Years Quality Teaching

General Principles

Credit transfer is given on the basis of:

  • Academic equivalency
  • Program relevance
  • Institutional recognition
  • Quality of coursework
  • Academic approval

Credits transfer is not automatic and it has to be formally evaluated by the University.

Eligibility for Credit Transfer

A student can seek credit transfer in case:

  • The course work has been done in an accredited or legally approved institution.
  • The course material can be compared to the curriculum of Roosevelt International University of Baptist.
  • The learner scored a passing grade in the course taken.
  • The coursework applies to the current program of study of the student.

Forms of Transferable Credits

Transfers may be taken out of:

  • Recognized or accredited universities and colleges.
  • Educational (professional or vocational) institutions of the kind (academically befitting).
  • The providers of distance learning or online education (subject to quality inspection).

There is no transfer of credits attained in non-academic training, short term workshop or unverified institutions.

Evaluation Criteria

The transfer credits are considered according to:

  • Course learning outcomes
  • Course content and syllabus
  • Credit hours and workload
  • Educational qualification (undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral)
  • Delivery mode (online, blended, face-to-face, etc.)
  • Institutional legitimacy

Maximum Credits to be Transferred

The University can restrict the amount of credits that can be transferred to a program. To be awarded a degree, the students should take at least a certain amount of credits with Roosevelt International University of Baptist itself.

Required Documentation

In order to apply credit transfer, students are required to provide:

  • Formal transcripts of grades.
  • Descriptions or syllabus of courses.
  • Evidence of institutional recognition (insight necessary)
  • Any other documents that the Academic Affairs Office needed.

Any documents have to be original and verifiable.

Approval Process

The approval of credit transfer includes:

  • Filling of application and documents.
  • Departmental/Faculty review.
  • The Academic Committee recommendation.
  • Registrar or Academic Council Final approval.

The University will have the option of refusing transfer applications which fail to satisfy academic requirements.

Credibility Period on Transfer Credits

The credits obtained too long ago will be reviewed in order to make them relevant to the program now. The University might need to have refresher course work in which the contents are not up to date.

Advanced Standing in Credit Transfer

Certified transfer credits can be credited to:

  • Core courses (where equivalent)
  • Elective courses
  • General education requirements

Transfer credits can eliminate the number of courses that a student has to undertake, and in that case, they have no impact on GPA calculations, as stated otherwise.

No Assurance of Full Transfer

The University will not be sure that all previous credits will be accepted. Granting of courses will only be done to courses that are academically equal and relevant.

Academic Honesty and Authentication

In case of any false, altered or misleading documents provided, the University has the right to:

  • Deny the transfer request
  • Cancel admission
  • Revoke academic standing
  • Take disciplinary action

Appeals

A credit transfer decision can be challenged by the students by writing a request accompanied by supporting documents to the Academic Affairs Office within stipulated time.

Revising and Amending of Policies

This policy can be rewritten on a regular basis to ensure the quality and institutional standards of academics.

Applicability

The policy is applicable to any undergraduate, postgraduate or doctoral program of Roosevelt International University of Baptist in any learning format.
